Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about tax calculation

The New Regime offers lower tax rates but fewer deductions. The Old Regime allows deductions under sections like 80C, 80D, HRA, etc. Generally, if you have significant investments and deductions, the Old Regime may be better. Use our calculator above to compare both regimes.
For New Regime: ₹3,00,000 for all individuals. For Old Regime: ₹2,50,000 for individuals below 60, ₹3,00,000 for senior citizens (60-80 years), and ₹5,00,000 for super senior citizens (above 80 years).
Under the New Regime, rebate of up to ₹25,000 is available if your total income does not exceed ₹7,00,000. Under the Old Regime, rebate of up to ₹12,500 is available if income does not exceed ₹5,00,000.
HRA exemption is the least of: (a) Actual HRA received, (b) Rent paid minus 10% of salary, or (c) 50% of salary (for metro cities) or 40% (for non-metro cities). Use our HRA calculator above for accurate calculation.
For individuals and businesses not requiring audit: July 31, 2025. For businesses requiring tax audit: October 31, 2025. For taxpayers filing belated return: December 31, 2025.
The maximum deduction under Section 80C is ₹1,50,000 per financial year. This includes investments in PPF, ELSS, NSC, LIC, tax-saving FDs, EPF contribution, and tuition fees for children.
